The Palace Theatre’s programme of adult health and wellbeing activities is expanding with a series of new, free taster sessions.

All taking place in Stage Left at the theatre, there will be two sessions led by Malou Evans, Accredited Mindfulness Coach of Launch into Life on Thursday 10 August.

The Calm and Focussed Performer, 10am to 11am is a mindfulness and wellbeing class for performers, theatre practitioners and those working within the performing arts and creative sector wishing to explore skills and techniques to overcome performance anxiety, manage stress and deal with the inner critic.

The second session, Happy and Calm, 11am to 12pm is for anyone wishing to explore and learn practical techniques to relax and bring calm and happiness into their daily life. No experience is needed, just a desire to learn and have a go. Following each taster session there will be an opportunity to sign up to a three-week course to explore the subjects further. Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance.

Sarah Hemingway, marketing and public relations executive at the Palace Theatre says, “These fantastic free sessions complement the existing programme of affordable daytime activities that we are offering here at the Palace Theatre for members of our local community to enjoy,”.

Also coming in the autumn is a series of free  Alexander Technique drop-in sessions with master instructor, Jennifer Davy. On Thursday 26 October, from 11am to 1.15pm, Jenny will be offering 15-minute one-to-one sessions providing an insight into gaining practical and thorough ways of improving muscular use, regaining natural poise and comfort in balance and movement. Places can be booked through the website or by calling the box office on 01803 665800.
