Speaker: Chris Mackenzie-Thorpe
The history of inns and breweries goes back centuries -possibly to the Romans. The pub claiming to be the oldest in Devon dates back to around 825 AD. Chris has been a member of CAMRA for many years (but not that far back!) but this his is personal take on beer and breweries in the southern part of Devon -though he doesn’t claim to have visited them all. At this time the hospitality industry is like many others under severe financial pressure but gladly there are many survivors. Illustrated with photos and anecdotes relating to the pubs but regrettably no free samples!
