The world’s favourite Liverpool-born tribute to The Beatles are heading to Devon to celebrate a very special Diamond Anniversary. The Mersey Beatles have wowed fans around the globe for more than 20 years and they are now bringing their biggest ever UK Tour to the Palace Theatre, Paignton, on Saturday 9 September.

Sixty years ago – as Beatlemania started to grip the nation – The Beatles released their 1963 debut album Please Please Me and set off around the UK to play a series of now legendary live shows. To celebrate this landmark anniversary, The Mersey Beatles are bringing their sensational hit-packed 50-date UK Tour to Paignton for a show no fan will want to miss. Just like the real thing, The Mersey Beatles hail from Liverpool where they were the resident Beatles tribute at the legendary Cavern Club for a decade – playing more than 600 times at the world-famous venue. Since leaving The Cavern, the band – Mark Bloor (John), Steven Howard (Paul), Craig McGown (George) and Brian Ambrose (Ringo) – have toured the world many times over. Their stunning two-hour concert takes fans on a Magical Mystery Tour from the clubs of Liverpool and Hamburg, featuring the mop-top hits of Beatlemania which conquered the world. The show also brilliantly charts The Beatles’ later career through psychedelic brilliance of ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ to the band’s later classics such as ‘Get Back’, ‘Revolution’ and ‘Hey Jude’.

Looking ahead to their Palace Theatre show, Steven said: “It’s going to be a brilliant night in Paignton when we will be celebrating 60 years of Beatlemania. We will be playing many of the songs The Beatles did when they played their legendary live UK shows in 1963 when their set included the likes of ‘Love Me Do’, ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’, ‘Please Please Me’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’.” The Mersey Beatles’ unforgettable live shows have won legions of fans, including John Lennon’s own sister Julia Baird and The British Beatles Fan Club who rate them as “The best Beatles tribute band around”.

On stage the band, who this year will tour the UK, Ireland, Europe, USA and Asia, exude the inner and outer spirit of the real thing, from the costumes, instruments, Scouse charm and, of course, that unmistakable era-defining, Liverpool-born sound. Mark added: “We pride ourselves on bringing a new show to audiences every night – no two shows are ever the same.

“This year we are playing many songs from The Beatles’ first two albums, together with many fan favourites and live rarities. This has gone down a storm with fans, most recently in America. “This is our biggest ever UK Tour so we can’t wait to rock the nation – just as our heroes did 60 years ago!”

“The Mersey Beatles have that brilliant ability to get people on their feet dancing… John would have loved that!” JULIA BAIRD, JOHN LENNON’S SISTER
