SUMMARY:Agatha Christie's Towards Zero
DESCRIPTION:Calling all Agatha Christie enthusiasts! In 2026\, the Palace Theatre in Paignton will host an unforgettable adaptation of one of Christie’s most captivating murder mysteries: Towards Zero. This thrilling production\, brought to you by Bijou Theatre Productions\, is part of their esteemed annual Agatha Christie run\, a tradition that has delighted audiences since 1984. \nTowards Zero promises to be a mesmerizing journey into the human psyche. This production feels like opening a long-locked door. The intrigue begins not with a murder\, but with the intricate web of choices\, grudges\, and tensions that simmer beneath the surface. Expect a gripping examination of jealousy and the subtle dynamics at play\, as the story unfolds in an atmosphere charged with suspense.\nThe Plot Unfolds.  Set against the stunning backdrop of Gull’s Point\, the seaside residence of Lady Tressilian\, the story invites you into a house party where Neville Strange finds himself torn between his ex-wife\, Audrey\, and his new love\, Kay. As tensions rise\, the stage is set for a chilling exploration of human emotions that leads to a shocking and brutal murder. \nOriginally adapted for the stage by Gerald Verner\, Towards Zero first premiered at the St. James’s Theatre in London in 1956. The play beautifully captures the essence of Agatha Christie’s writing\, and its connection to the Devon coastline—the inspiration behind the fictional locations of Saltcreek and Gull’s Point—adds an authentic touch for local audiences. \nDon’t miss your chance to enjoy this thrilling production of Towards Zero\, running at 7:30 PM on Tuesdays\, Wednesdays\, and Thursdays from June 9 to July 30\, 2026. Tickets are priced at £18. SUMMARY:One Accord Summer Concert
DESCRIPTION:One Accord Summer Concert (Stage Left\, Palace Theatre) \nOne Accord is bringing its annual summer concert back to Stage Left! These local singers are thrilled to offer a programme of much new\, exciting material\, maintaining their reputation of bringing fabulous arrangements to their audience.  This year’s fest offers a range that includes ‘fire’ themed and Motown medleys as well as popular stand alone songs. One Accord intersperses its harmony work with solos\, duets\, women and men only songs\, providing variety and showcasing individual talents. One not to miss! \nOne Accord is a small\, select vocal performance group that prides itself in offering much new material every year in its summer concert. Based in Torbay\, it is an independent\, self run choir that draws on the expertise and experience of Belinda Byers\, who writes and teaches her own arrangements of much of the material so that the group performs a distinct and unique repertoire. \nIn its ‘Stage Left’ concert the audience can expect a typically wide range of songs to entertain them\, from some well known standards\, a little musical theatre and modern pop songs to a specially arranged medley of Motown hits. All singing and accompaniment is completely and refreshingly ‘live’\, with not a single backing track to be heard. \nUnusually in choral performance\, the programme also includes work by individual group members\, performing solos and duets that vary the experience and showcase the talents of One Accord members\, some of whom have been singing together for twenty years\, others who have joined very recently. \nOne Accorders aim to share their love of singing together every time they step from the comfort zone of their rehearsal room into the slightly scary but thrilling world of live performance. It may be a local\, ‘amateur’ show\, but it is one definitely worth it! \n \n7pm Saturday July 18 2026
