SUMMARY:Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango
DESCRIPTION:What are men for? Most heavy things can be lifted by machines and most problems can be solved by computers and most puddles can be crossed without us gallantly draping our capes over them – so are we fellas of any use at all? \nAward winning MAN Marcus Brigstocke thinks we might still serve some useful function. But what is it? This new tour show will resolve the entire issue once and for all (in a non-patriarchal\, open minded\, progressive sort of way). \nDaVinci’s Vitruvian Man is the image of the ideal male form. Marcus’ Vitruvian Mango is the same\, but sweeter\, softer\, seasonally available and\, when ripe\, delicately perfumed. \n‘… charming\, hilarious and utterly refreshing…’ The Sunday Mirror \n‘Sharpest one-liner merchant’ The Sunday Times \n‘If you haven’t seen him live\, then you haven’t seen him at his very best’ The Mirror \n \nSTRICTLY 14+ Likely to be swearing and adult content \n

SUMMARY:Jive Talkin’ perform the Bee Gees
DESCRIPTION:Renowned as the original and very best Bee Gees tribute show\, and THE ONLY Bee Gees tribute show that has actually performed with the original Bee Gees! In 1997 Gary & Darren from Jive Talkin performed LIVE on HEART FM with THE BEE GEES and received great compliments from both Maurice and Barry Gibb…… \nAs with the original Bee Gees\, Jive Talkin is very much a family affair\, with brothers Gary and Darren Simmons taking the roles of Barry and Maurice Gibb\, with Darren’s son Jack joining the group in 2014 and taking on the role of Robin Gibb. The guys are supported musically by a four piece band with Lead Guitar\, Violin\, Cello and Drums\, to ensure that every note in every song is just right! \nWherever the group play they receive superb plaudits; “The Soundalike quality is quite sensational” (The Stage)\, “Amazing similarity to the real Bee Gees” (Wakefield Express)\, Absolutely Brilliant (Maurice Gibb)\, WOW (Barry Gibb)……… \nFor a truly amazing experience and an opportunity to hear all the great Bee Gees hits; Tragedy\, Night Fever\, Massachusetts\, Stayin Alive\, jive Talkin\, etc\, in a 2 hour explosion of music and vocal harmony\, this is a night not to be missed!.

SUMMARY:SEED TALKS: The History of Witchcraft and Feminism
DESCRIPTION:The History of Witchcraft and Feminism with Dr Jennifer Farrell \nUncover the fascinating history of witchcraft and how patriarchal ideas shaped the image of a witch. Followed by Q&A. \nThe image of a female witch\, with broom and black cat serving the devil\, is ingrained in pop culture. But where did this stereotype come from? The concept of witchcraft emerged slowly over the course of several centuries as a result of theological\, intellectual\, and cultural changes in ideas about demons and heresy. \nMagical practices were varied – including love magic\, healing\, and various forms of prognostication. And it certainly wasn’t always associated with women.  In fact\, more ‘sinister’ magic like necromancy – which relied heavily on the power of demons – was mostly done by men. This type of magic involved a lot of education that simply wasn’t accessible to women at the time. So how come this image of evil women practising magic – witches – came about? \nThis talk will use feminist approaches to the past to explore medieval changes in ideas about magic\, gender\, and heresy in order to better understand the emergence of witchcraft at the end of the middle ages. We will also look at witchcraft in relation to female sexuality and fears about women’s access to ritual power throughout history. \nDoors open at 7pm\, talk starts at 7.30pm – come down early to grab a good seat! \nDr Jennifer Farrell is a lecturer in medieval history at the University of Exeter. With interests in both gender and the medieval supernatural\, her research and teaching focuses on cultural developments and their relationship to socio-political changes in Western Europe during the high and late middle ages (c. 1000- c. 1500). She has published on subjects including medieval prophecy; fairies in medieval history and romance; the relationship between literary representations of fairies\, the supernatural\, and gender; and is currently working on a book focused on Geoffrey of Monmouth and the origins of the Arthurian legends. Her teaching has included undergraduate and postgraduate courses looking at medieval gender and sexuality\, universities and learning in the middle ages\, magic in the middle ages\, sexualities across time and space\, and the legends of King Arthur. \nThis is a 16+ event \n \nTestimonials from our guests \n⭐ Super Interesting talks! Fun and Informative – Ally S. \n⭐ Expertly run\, talks are always super informative and a lot of fun!
