DESCRIPTION:The Old Saltway  \n‘An Audience’ at the Palace daytime talk with local speaker\, Colin Vosper on The Old Saltway\, the route described by Deryck Seymour in his book on Torre Abbey. \nThe route has interesting historical stories and facts linked to various places along the way from Coombe Cellars to Totnes and is a mix of churchways /lychways\, manor boundaries and old trading or pack-horse routes with very few roads. Colin’s talk will focus on the route used in the context of the salt trade from its supply from the salt marshes of the Teign estuary to the delivery of salt and no doubt other goods\, to the ships preparing to leave for sea at Totnes or Dartmouth. It is suitable for beginners who would like to try out and build on their skills as well as those who already enjoy writing for pleasure. In a supportive and encouraging atmosphere participants will find stimulation and motivation through informal writing exercises and discussion. \nThe taster workshop will lead to an opportunity to sign up to a six week course exploring different forms of writing and to have fun developing writing skills. It is not designed for those who are seeking to improve their basic written English for everyday purposes. \nLed by Chris Woodhouse\, who throughout a twenty five year successful career has taught in and managed Adult and Community Learning\, as well as devised and run numerous literary workshops and creative writing courses. \nSpaces are limited and must be booked in advance.
