DESCRIPTION:Running weekly as part of a ten week course\, from Wednesday 7 September to Wednesday 9 November 2022\, 10am to 12.15pm \nThis ten-week course is an opportunity for those who enjoy creative writing to have fun sharing work\, ideas and motivation. It is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of writing who would welcome guidance\, encouragement and feedback. The group is led by Chris Woodhouse who has created and taught many courses and workshops in the subject over some thirty years. Sessions will include sharing work\, discussion\, writing exercises and suggested topics and will be supported with some taught elements and printed handouts\, designed to extend skills and knowledge. Whether you are a short story writer\, a poet\, a teller of anecdotes\, want to write your memoirs or novels or just want to explore different forms of creative writing you will be made very welcome. \nSpaces are limited and must be booked in advance. £120 per person to attend all ten classes. \nPlease note that this class will take place in Down Stage Left.

Felix Abercrombie\, a retired wealthy businessman\, has died and his family and friends are gathering for a dinner party and the reading of his Will. Felix Abercrombie had retired after successfully running businesses in the mining industry in the Tamar Valley and\, using his expertise and business acumen\, he had spotted the mass market for tourism and made an even greater fortune late in life. He had invested his money in land and property and\, at the time of his death\, was a wealthy man. \nHis eldest son\, George Abercrombie\, had taken charge of the business after his father’s retirement. His son\, Philip had moved abroad some years before\, where he worked with the Copper mining industry in Northern Rhodesia. Up until Felix’s death\, his daughter\, Rebecca\, had looked after him\, with the help of family friend Dr Richard Hargreaves. \nOn the night of his 90th birthday\, after a family party\, Felix suffered a fatal heart attack. As he had a weak heart\, the excitement of the party had simply proved too much for him. \nFelix had decreed that his Will should be read at an afternoon tea party held to celebrate his life\, and so\, tonight\, George Abercrombie\, has called family and friends together to open and read the Will. \nHowever\, not all goes as expected and before the evening is over someone is murdered. After the murder one member of the group takes charge of the investigation. All the clues are there to lead to the right conclusion\, but will they be correctly deduced? The investigator\, with the help of the other guests at the afternoon tea party must get to the truth before the afternoon is out! \nThe Afternoon Tea experience ticket price includes scones\, cream and jam\, cocktail sandwiches/rolls of various fillings\, a selection of cakes and savouries.
