SUMMARY:Murder Mystery Afternoon Tea with Moonstone Theatre Company
DESCRIPTION:The Mâori Murder Mystery’ – Join Moonstone Theatre Company to help them solve a mystery\, whilst enjoying a fabulous afternoon tea experience\, held in Stage Left. \nIt is 1930 and a tea party has been arranged for a small group of friends who collect Mâori artefacts from New Zealand. Captain Alfred Fuller has been collecting these rare pieces for some time and he is at the party. His wife Estelle was unable to make it down to Devon. Also present is a relatively new collector\, Harry Beasley. They are there to meet James Little from Torquay\, one of the most successful dealers in these rare pieces. From his little shop in Torquay he successfully sells much sought-after artefacts to buyers from all over the world. At nearby Holmescroft House a tragedy recently occurred when one of the residents fell from an upstairs window to her death. The house was occupied by three sisters and it was one of these\, Miss Agnes Moultrie\, who had died. The other residents of the house\, Miss Elizabeth Moultrie and Miss Mary Moultrie are also at the hotel. Are the two groups connected? Was the death at Holmescroft House an innocent accident or is something more sinister going on?  All the clues will be there to lead to the correct conclusion\, but will they be correctly deduced? The investigator\, with the help of the other guests at the event must get to the truth before the afternoon is over! \nTickets include a delicious afternoon tea served in Stage Left. \n \nSaturday 11 May\, 2pm to 4pm

SUMMARY:Three Men in a Boat
DESCRIPTION:After the huge success of Old Herbaceous\, GSP productions are back with a rip-roaring barrel of fun\, Three Men in a Boat\, with Giles Shenton (Old Herbaceous himself!) playing the part of Jerome K Jerome. \nJoin Jerome as he recounts the hilarious story of his boating holiday along the magnificent River Thames with his two companions and Montmorency the dog. Come and join in the fun as Giles Shenton expertly takes the helm and pilots you through the ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats! \n \n“There are a few seriously funny books that remain great for all time. Three Men in a Boat is one of these” The Guardian \n“Timeless appeal” The Independent \n“Pitch-perfect comedy about\, well\, three men in a boat” The Telegraph \nGiles Shenton “creates an instant rapport with the audience\, drawing us into his world and making the characters in it so real we feel you have known them forever. ” Edinburgh Fringe Review \n“Skilfully distilled from Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece into 95 minutes of pure delight. To those who wondered if the same team could live up to the earlier success of Old Herbaceous\, the answer was an emphatic yes. A master class in confidence\, stagecraft and delivery.” Opening Night Review \n“The nearest thing to “audio slapstick” I’ve ever heard\, culminating in the sublime comedy of opening a tin\, when you’ve forgotten the tin opener. It is not often that you come out of a theatrical performance feeling like you’ve been sharing happy and hilarious times\, safe from a cruel world & wrapped in a warm blanket.” Vera Fletcher Review \nProduced by GSP | Written by Jerome K. Jerome | Adapted for the stage by Simon Downing & Giles Shenton | Directed by Simon Downing | Music by Andrew D Brewis

SUMMARY:Play on Words Festival - Total 50s
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Play on Words Festival with Speaker: Don Evitts \nAuthor Don Evitts returns to the Palace to present another one of his time machine talks.  This time he goes back to the 1950s. It’s a light hearted whistle-stop talk of music\, humour and memories of those times and based around book 1 ‘From Copper Tops to Mop Tops’ of Don’s 3-part self published autobiographies. Don will also take questions after the talk on how and why he came to write the books in the first place and pass on any advice to budding authors that are thinking of going down this path! His books have gone on to inspire others\, which has led to the British Heart Foundation getting in touch to feature his story in their magazine ‘Heart Matters’ under the title –  ‘Life Doesn’t Have to End after a Heart Attack’\, and it doesn’t\, he’s here to prove it! Genre: Popular Culture. \nSaturday 27 April\, 4pm-5pm \n \n
