SUMMARY:Murder Mystery Afternoon tea: Penny for the Guy! An afternoon of treats and intrigue
DESCRIPTION:Join Moonstone Theatre Company to help them solve a mystery\, whilst enjoying a fabulous afternoon tea experience\, held in Stage Left. \nEvery year people flocked to the small Devon town of Barton Ferrers for the November the 5th celebrations. Otters St Mary had its tar barrels\, Sticklepath had its fire show and Barton Ferrers had a re-enactment of the Gunpowder Plot. A model of Big Ben was built on the village green\, and a group of townsfolk performed the events of that fateful night on November 5\, 1605. \nHowever\, on the 8 November 2025\, the night of the Barton Ferrers lightshow\, Philip Dunbar\, who was going to play Guy Fawkes\, was found dead inside the burn-out model of Big Ben. He had been hit on the head. \nThe police were called\, and Detective Chief Inspector Appleby was put in charge of the case. He concluded that his key suspects were the other townsfolk playing parts in the re-enactment and he has asked them to attend this evening in order to pursue his investigations. He calls on the other guests to help him. \nAll the clues will be there to catch the killer\, but will they be correctly deduced? Detective Chief Inspector Appleby\, with the help of the other guests\, is determined to get to the truth before the afternoon is out. \nTickets include a delicious afternoon tea served in Stage Left.\nSaturday 8 November\, 2pm to 4pm \nVegan and Vegetarian options available. Sadly we cannot offer gluten free afternoon teas. \n \n

SUMMARY:SEED TALKS: The Psychology of Carl Jung with Dr Rachel Newsome
DESCRIPTION:Uncover Jung’s revolutionary insights into the human mind through dreams\, shadows\, synchronicity\, and more. Followed by Q&A. \nHave you ever wondered what our dreams and imagination can say about our inner psychology? Join us for an illuminating introduction to the psychology of Carl Jung and his groundbreaking ideas about the creative\, healing power of the unconscious. A founding father of depth psychology\, Jung was a maverick thinker\, artist and visionary whose ideas were ahead of his time. His extensive studies of ancient religions and mythologies\, alongside his deep dream work\, brought him to the edge of sanity. Through this work\, he developed the pioneering concepts of the collective unconscious\, the archetypes (including the shadow and the self)\, synchronicity\, individuation\, creative self-realisation and more. \nIn this talk\, we’ll explore key Jungian concepts in relation to how Jung combined ancient Eastern wisdom with Western psychology. We’ll learn how this can be understood as a form of ‘sacred science’ reflecting the spiritual crisis of late-stage capitalism and how Jung’s thought places us inside a larger reality transcending space and time. We’ll look at the instrumental role of imagination\, dreams and symbols in Jung’s approach to psychoanalysis\, including his innovative technique of active imagination or ‘dreaming awake’. We’ll consider how Jung’s psychoanalysis is still relevant today as a powerful\, transformative tool to access the unknown and facilitate creativity in support of both individual and collective growth. \nDoors open at 6:30pm\, talk starts at 7.30pm  \n \nDr Rachel Newsome is a Jungian-based writer and teacher. She holds a doctorate in applying Jungian psychoanalysis to creative writing and is the founder of Depth Writing with Dr Rachel\, a holistic creative learning programme aimed at supporting transformational growth. Dr Rachel has a background in the media and academia as a former editor of arts & culture magazine Dazed & Confused and a lecturer with twenty years’ experience\, respectively. She is an Associate of the Higher Education Association and an Editorial Board Member of the London Arts-Based Research Centre. Her research has been published in international academic journals\, and she is Co-Editor of the forthcoming Routledge publication The Creative Psyche: Between Spirit and Matter. Her monthly Depth Writing with Dr Rachel dispatches on travels between worlds via the arts\, culture and all things Jungian can be found on Substack. \nTestimonials from our guests \n⭐ Super Interesting talks! Fun and Informative – Ally S. \n⭐ Expertly run\, talks are always super informative and a lot of fun! Couldn’t recommend these enough! 5 stars. – Owen S \n⭐ Been to a few talks and all have been super interesting. An enjoyable evening to go to either alone or with friends. SUMMARY:Sherlock Holmes and The Sign Of Four
DESCRIPTION:“When you have eliminated the impossible then whatever remains\, however improbable\, must be the truth!” \nAfter their hugely successful portrayals as SHERLOCK HOLMES & DOCTOR WATSON in The Hound Of The Baskervilles\, COLIN BAKER (Doctor Who\, The Brothers) & TERRY MOLLOY (The Archers\, Doctor Who) are back on stage in another classic adventure for the world’s only consulting detective! \n“What has become of Captain Morstan and why does his daughter now receive a valuable pearl every year from an anonymous benefactor? \nWhat begins as a curious puzzle soon becomes a terrifying murder hunt\, with the discovery of a missing fortune\, a locked room and the murdered body of Bartholomew Sholto – but who committed these heinous\, inexplicable crimes and how do they involve a map of the far-off Agra Fort? \nThe case of The Sign Of Four stretches all of Sherlock Holmes’ powers of deduction in a mystery that was born in war-torn India and now stalks Victorian London\, fuelled by the vengeance of a seemingly unstoppable\, cut-throat band. \nWith the help of the Baker Street Irregulars and Doctor Watson’s new love Mary\, can Holmes finally bring the gang’s malicious leader to justice\, recover the stolen treasure\, and reveal the hideous truth behind the riddle of The Sign Of Four?” \nPresented by Crime And Comedy Theatre Company as a radio-play-live-on-stage.
