SUMMARY:Murder Mystery Afternoon tea: Death on the Danube! An afternoon of treats and intrigue
DESCRIPTION:Join Moonstone Theatre Company to help them solve a mystery\, whilst enjoying a fabulous afternoon tea experience\, held in Stage Left. \nThe Imperial was an excellent ship and was taking a group of passengers on a river cruise down the Danube from Budapest in Hungary to Passau in Germany. The weather had been good and the atmosphere on board had been excellent. Captain Derek Carlson was happy with the way things had gone. \nThe ship had moored for the night in the pretty village of Durnstein in Austria when things took a darker turn as the body of one of the passengers was found on the sundeck. It was clear that the death was not an accident. \nAs luck would have it\, Detective Chief Inspector Appleby of the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary was on the ship enjoying a short break and immediately took charge of matters and liaised with the local police. The Chief Inspector narrowed the number of suspects down to four individuals and now seeks the help of fellow passengers in bringing the culprit to justice. \nAll the clues will be there to catch the killer but will they be correctly deduced. With the help of the other guests on the ship Detective Chief Inspector Appleby is determined to get to the truth before the evening is over. \nTickets include a delicious afternoon tea served in Stage Left.\nSaturday 3 May\, 2pm to 4pm \nVegan and Vegetarian options available. Sadly we cannot offer gluten free afternoon teas. \n \n

SUMMARY:Ashley Hutchings 80th Birthday Tour - with special guest Blair Dunlop
DESCRIPTION: “Ashley Hutchings is the single most important figure in English folk-rock” (Bob Dylan). \nHe formed Fairport Convention in 1967 and the group went on to invent British folk-rock. He went on to form Steeleye Span who had enormous success in pop as well as folk charts. Ashley then formed the many Albion Bands. By 1977 the band became the house band at the National Theatre with Ashley as music director. They provided music and dance for four years in many enormously popular plays. In more recent times The Guvnor\, as he became known as\, has concentrated on music and spoken word performances and albums. He was awarded the MBE 6 years ago. \nHis son Blair Dunlop\, now in his early 30s\, is a “globetrotting BBC folk awards winning singer-songwriter and recently determinedly taken the traditions of folk in his own direction” (The Independent). In March father and son start a rare tour together. They will present a unique performance of their terrific songs\, remarkable stories spanning many years taking in characters as broad ranging as Jimi Hendrix\, Martin Carthy\, our current King Charles\, and Bob Dylan. The latter is a good friend of Ashley and great admirer of Blair’s music. SUMMARY:An Audience with Dame Prue Leith
DESCRIPTION:Prue Leith’s career has included her own restaurants\, catering and cookery school businesses; she’s been a board director of companies such as British Rail\, Halifax\, Safeway\, Whitbread\, Woolworths\, and Belmond (ex-Orient Express) Hotels. \nShe has published eight novels\, a memoir\, I’ll Do Anything Once (formerly\, Relish) and 14 cookbooks. Her latest cookbook\, Bliss on Toast\, was published by Bloomsbury in 2022. \nPrue is probably best known as a judge on the Great British Bake Off\, but last year she also presented a gardening programme\, Prue’s Great Garden Plot with her husband\, and this year will judge the American equivalent of Bake Off. She has also been a judge on The Great British Menu and My Kitchen Rules. \nPrue has had a deep involvement with education and the arts: she chaired the first of the companies charged with turning round failing state schools\, and was Chair of the School Food Trust\, responsible for the improvement of school food and food education. She started and led the campaign for contemporary sculpture to be exhibited on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. She has been active in many charities and is the Chancellor of Queen Margaret University\, Edinburgh.
