The Palace Theatre Paignton is proud to welcome the 2018 English Riviera Film Festival, a celebration of the film both locally and internationally. This year’s programme is packed with films, talks and the 2018 English Riviera Film Festival Awards. A must for film fans and a great opportunity to network with film industry professionals and film selection with something for everyone.
We’re showing the Award Winning Borley Rectory an Animated feature Documentary starring Reece Shearsmith and narrated by Julian Sands. War Stories local author Chris Robillard shares his passion for true and untold of Heroics in World War 2 (including his Torquay born Father), which has been turned into a series of books by author and a documentary series. With his book ‘Captain and Mrs Jones’ featured on the BBC and national press.
We have a new film looking at the English Riviera from above from Skyflicks media, a film about a surreal journey of looking for the perfect beard called ‘Beard Envy’ (fresh from its success from festivals in New York) and we have the 2018 English Riviera Film Festival shortest Award nominated films, shortlisted from films / film makers from across the world. We close the day with the 2018 English Riviera Film Festival Awards for Best Film, Direct, Actor, Actress, screenplay and the first English Riviera Film Award.

The film stars Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen, Inside No 9, The Widower and ITV drama Chasing Shadows), Jonathan Rigby (Kenneth Horne in BBC production ‘Round the Horne Revisited’, Horror Historian, author of English Gothic), Richard Strange (Batman, Inkheart, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Claire Louise Amias (Provoked, Telling Lies, Women of Twilight), Steve Furst (Little Britain, Legend of Dick and Dom, Father Brown, Toast of London), Sabrina Dickens (Night of the Living Dead Resurrection, Silent Night Deadly Night) and Sara Dee (Sightseers, A Field In England, Highrise). The film’s narration has been performed by Julian Sands (Room with a View, Warlock, Gothic, Smallville, Gotham, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
‘Borley Rectory’ is an animated documentary chronicling what came to be known as ‘The most haunted house in England’. The legends attached to the rectory at Borley and famed paranormal investigator Harry Price’s subsequent investigations of them, caught the public’s imagination during the late 20’s in time becoming one of the world’s most notorious ghost stories influencing Shirley Jackson’s ‘Haunting of Hill House’ and Richard Matheson’s ‘Hell House’. Local author Chris Robillard Presents War Stories True and untold Heroic stories from World War 2 ( including his Torquay born father ) . Chris will be showing couple of short Documentary films and talking about his passion bringing these untold stories together . His most recent book Captain and Mrs Jones was featured in the BBC and in the national press .

We are please welcome back Skyflicks Media who will be Premiering a new film of the English From the air .Who’s last years film the English Riviera From Above was very popular on social media (147,000 views) and sky flicks has gone from strength to strength .
13.25pm Beard Envy
Fresh from it’s Success in New York the ERFF is proud to present Beard Envy the surreal journey of Dan A Beard (Jack Allum) in his search for the perfect Beard. The film is based on the Poem by Award Winning Spoken Word Artist Robert Garnham . Robert and the Director John Tomkins will be doing a short Q &A Session after the film.

The Festival is proud to present the finalists for the 2018 English Film Festival Awards. With a great selection of films locally and from across the world . From Drama , comedy and horror this years election of films promises something for everyone.
